Project Description/Impact:

Empower Mali is proud to have completed a sustainable solar-powered water system in Tomban-Sebekoro Village through the generous support of the Stirling Foundation. The project includes a deep borehole, solar-powered pumping system, elevated water storage tank, and community distribution points that provide reliable access to safe drinking water throughout the year. This water system reduces the burden of water collection, improves sanitation and hygiene, and supports the health and well-being of families across the community. Consistent with Empower Mali’s community-led development model, local residents participated in the project and established a village water committee responsible for ongoing management and maintenance.

Tomban is a small hamlet (hameau) located within the rural commune of Sébékoro, which sits in the Kita Cercle of the Kayes Region in southwestern Mali.
